What to Pack When Coming to Cork, Ireland

- Posted on: 28/08/2019 -

Ireland is known as the "Emerald Isle" due to its luscious green backdrop. It unfortunately is only this way due to the enormous amounts of rain showers that can occur on any given day. This makes Ireland a little bit challenging when it comes to packing. The old saying is true (especially in Ireland), “There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing”. So, here are the basics we think you should include when packaging to travel to Ireland.

What to Pack for Ireland: The Basic Essentials

No matter where you’re traveling there are a few things that should always be packed. These include:

  • Wallet: Include your ID, Passport and a bank card that can be used in Ireland.
  • Travel documents: A copy of your passport, visa, insurance documents and anything else that is needed.
  • Technology: Power adapter, converter if necessary, tablets/phones/laptops, portable chargers and camera.
  • Personal Item: Keep it Close
  • Miniature first Aid Kit
  • Liquids bag
  • Change of clothes
  • Headphones
  • Sunscreen
  • Sunglasses
  • Toiletries

Weather: Pack for the Unpredictable

Ireland can be a packing challenge. On any day of winter, spring, summer or fall – you may need layers, sunscreen, a raincoat, a hat and closed-toed shoes. As a rule of thumb, always remember that the possibility of rain is real every single day. The old saying is true, “There’s no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing.” Weather can be unpredictable and it’s a good idea to pack for three seasons, no matter when you are going. That means something warm, solid shoes, and a rainproof outer layer, at least:

  1. Runners
  2. Rain Jacket (longer than usual)
  3. Light Sweater(s)
  4. Extra Pair of Shoes
  5. Umbrella
  6. Hats and Scarves
  7. Extra Layers
  8. Hooded Clothing
  9. Bathing Suit
