Lockdown 2.0- Staying Positive

- Posted on: 31/10/2020 -

As we enter into our second week of our 6 week, Level 5, lockdown it is crucial to stay calm and be mindful of yourself in the coming weeks. Unlike Lockdown 1.0 the weather is not great and the spirits are certainly not as high but we must stay hopeful at the thought of some normality during the Christmas Season.

We have come up with some tips to keep your mind at ease over the next few weeks:

1.       Plan Ahead

Christmas is fast approaching, it is slowly creeping up to the wonderful time of year of festive spirits and Christmas joy. Until then we recommend planning ahead for your Christmas month to the best of your abilities. Why not plan your Christmas presents now- buy and wrap them so you’re not under pressure when it comes around. Plan a Christmas day with a friend- with restrictions in mind, even just holding a date that you can meet up with people gives you something to look forward to. We highly recommend present wrapping and planning ahead during this 6 week lull.

2.       Shop Local

This is a very hard time for everyone at the moment. Small businesses are struggling and closing. When planning for the Christmas month ahead why not look into shopping local. Loads of shops are offering Click and Collect services to keep any bit of business going. We really hope you consider this. You might surprise yourself and feel good by supporting local. Local businesses are trying their best to get revenue in the door, have a look to see what people are offering. We are doing Vouchers like many hotels that you can see here.

3.       Get out of the House

Most people are now working from home, and with that comes a big slump (well for some of us). Looking at the same walls all day and all night. We highly recommend you listen to the restrictions but get out of the house and go for a walk in your 5km. You can even call up to a friend who lives nearby and go for a socially distanced one. Be mindful of your mental health and make sure to prioritise doing these little things because they can certainly make you feel a whole lot better.  Or, as gyms shut they have started having online classes- why not log in for half an hour of your day.

4.       Be Grateful

This is a hard one to do when everything seems very much – doom and gloom. All of us naturally complain and give out especially now that there is so much to complain and give out about. Try look at the Brightside, think of your health that you are fortunate to have, think of your family or friends that you have around you, think of even one thing each day that you are grateful for and start your day like that- positively. Also, be grateful to all of our health care workers and essential workers that are on the frontline dealing with this from the beginning- be thankful to them, I know we all are.

We hope to welcome our wonderful guests back into the hotel soon, it is very lonely without you all. Until then, we hope you all stay safe and listen to the restrictions. Hope to see you all for some Christmas festivities in a few weeks time!
